In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter sugar and egg. Mix until combined. Pour in 1 cup of flour at a time and salt.
Using a stand mixer attach the dough hook and knead beginning at a low speed then increase to medium. Knead for about 7-10 minutes or until the dough no longer sticks to the bowl. you can also do this by hand, it will just take a bit of elbow grease.
Transfer the dough to a well floured surface and knead the dough for 2-3 more minutes until a smooth ball. Then add to a well oiled bowl and cover with a bowl cover and warm towel. Place in a warm place for 1 hour for the dough to double in size.
Once the dough doubles, punch the dough to release the gas then transfer to a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough in half then into even sized sections.
Begin rolling the sections into dough balls. Place the dough balls and cover. Allow them to rise another 30-45 minutes.
While they rise, preheat the oven to 375°F degree oven and bake for 25 minutes and golden.
Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter and top with flaky salt, if desired.
Serve warm and enjoy.
