Lunch got a new upgrade with these delicious Tuna cake Sandwich. Flaky tuna seasoned to perfection and made into delicious patties. Then seared in an infused olive oil to bring extra flavor. The tuna cakes are dressed on a buttery bun with a homemade tartar sauce, lettuce, tomato, and thinly sliced red onions.

This is the tuna sandwich you didn’t know you needed. It’s easy to make, affordable and packed with flavor.
Over on Instagram I partnered with Genova seafood and created this delicious Tuna cake sandwich. You guys loved it so much, I knew i had to share it here.

Ingredients for Tuna Cake Sandwich?
- Tuna: i used Genova Albacore Tuna in Olive Oil
- Mayo: Use your favorite mayo. It adds moisture and helps everything come together so your tuna cakes hold their shape.
- Dijon Mustard: I like to use stone-ground mustard for that rustic flavor.
- Hot sauce: this helps spice things up and adds additional flavor.
- Worcestershire Sauce: adds a rich, savory depth of flavor.
- Green onions: adds freshness to the tuna cake patties
- Red onion: or shallot
- Seasonings: I used a blend of Old Bay, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, parsley, salt and pepper to taste
- Panko Bread crumbs
- Egg: this helps bind the tuna cakes together.
- Garlic clove
- Serrano: you can also use jalapeño or any pepper to infuse the oil for extra flavor.
- Olive oil from the Tuna cans
For the sauce:
- Mayo: you can also use plain greek yogurt
- Dijon Mustard: stone ground mustard.
- Dill: fresh or dry
- Dill Relish
- Tuna in olive oil: be sure to reserve some of the olive oil from the canned tuna.
- Lemon juice
- Hot sauce
- Garlic powder
- Old Bay
- Sugar
- Salt and black pepper, to taste

Topping ideas:
- Potato Buns: my favorite buns for sandwiches and burgers.
- Lettuce: feel free to use your favorite leafy green. I used Romaine lettuce
- Tomato: don’t forget to season!
- Red Onions: thinly sliced for that fresh flavor.
- Avocado: optional
- Bacon: make it a BLT by adding some crispy bacon.

Fried Tuna Cake Sandwich
Ingredients
- 3 cans of Genova Tuna
- 1/3 cup Mayo
- 2 tsp Dijon Mustard
- 1-2 tsp Hot sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 sprigs of green onions diced
- 1/4 red onion diced
- 1 tsp Old Bay
- 1 tsp Onion powder
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp Paprika
- Salt + pepper to taste
- 1 tsp Dried parsley
- 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
- 1 egg
For the sauce
- 3 tbsp Mayo
- 1 tsp Dijon Mustard
- 1/2 tsp Dill
- 1 tbsp Dill relish
- 1 tsp Tuna olive oil
- 1/2 Lemon juice
- 1-2 tsp Hot sauce
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp Old Bay
- 1/4 tsp of sugar
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For the Tuna Cake
- 1 garlic clove
- reserved Olive oil from the Tuna cans
- 1/2 serrano pepper
- Potato Buns
- Lettuce
- Tomato seasoned
- Red Onions thinly sliced
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine mayo, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, 1 egg, and green
- and red onions. Season with Old Bay, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black
- pepper. Add in the Genova Albacore Tuna, reserving the olive oil for later. Mix in breadcrumbs
- and parsley and fold together gently. Form into patties and place in the fridge to chill for at least 20 minutes.
- While the patties chill, make the sauce. Combine mayo, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, dill relish, a
- little of the reserved olive oil, fresh lemon juice, garlic powder, dill, sugar, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix well and set aside.
- In a hot skillet, pour in the remaining reserved olive oil. Add a garlic clove and serrano pepper to infuse the oil, then add the tuna cakes and cook for 6 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Spread a layer of mayo on your buns and toast for about 2 minutes until golden.
- To assemble, layer on the sauce, lettuce, tomato, the tuna cake, red onions, and more sauce.
- Cut in half and enjoy!
